From the Co-Leads of
The Movement for Progressive Judaism

Rabbi Josh Levy and Rabbi Charley Baginsky

We are honoured to write at such a significant moment for both TLSE and Radlett Reform Synagogue. Your decision to explore a shared future is inspiring. It shows courage, vision and a deep commitment to the flourishing of Jewish life.

As you set out your big vision, your proposals for worship, buildings and community life, and your plans for a vote on merger in early 2026, we want to say clearly that we welcome and support this work. You are engaging in these conversations with thoughtfulness, honesty and genuine collaboration, and we know how much heart and care have gone into reaching this point.

The Psalmist teaches, Hineh mah tov umah naim shevet achim gam yachad — how good and how pleasant it is when people dwell together in harmony. Your partnership gives new life to these ancient words. You are showing what it means for communities to sit together, plan together and dream together for the sake of the future.

What you are doing is part of a wider movement across our communities, a movement that asks how we can build a Judaism that is strong, joyful, rooted in our tradition and responsive to the needs of the world we live in. When communities choose to walk this path together, something new and hopeful becomes possible.

As Co Leads of the Movement for Progressive Judaism, we see your journey as a model for others. You are demonstrating how two communities can bring their strengths together, hold differences with care, and create a shared space for prayer, learning and purpose. This is exactly the kind of creative leadership our Movement needs and other communities will follow in the ways that are right for them.

We will continue to support you through each stage of consultation and decision making. We know these conversations are not only about structures but about the kind of Jewish future you want to build for your children and for the wider community.

May this moment bring wisdom, blessing and strength to you all. And may the partnership between your communities shine as a beacon of what Progressive Judaism can be at its best.

With every good wish, Rabbi Josh Levy Rabbi Charley Baginsky
